GERMAN CHOCOLATE TOFFEE BARS
FOR THE CRUST: 1 box German chocolate cake mix 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened 2 eggs, divided use 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips, divided use FOR THE FILLING: 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 2 teaspoons vanilla flavoring 20 small Heath bars, crushed (from a 12-ounce package) (or toffee chips) 1 cup chopped pecans
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 13-by-9-inch baking dish.
With a pastry blender, combine cake mix (dry) and butter; mix well. Stir in 1 egg and 1/4 cup-mini chocolate chips. Press mixture into the bottom of prepared pan.
Bake for 9 minutes.
In a medium-size bowl, combine condensed milk, vanilla and remaining egg; mix well. Stir in the remaining 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips, crushed Heath Bars and pecans. Pour filling evenly over warm crust. Return to oven and bake an additional 30 to 35 minutes.
Cool completely and then cut into bars.
